Site Update

As we head towards a new year, I'd like to take this opportunity to once again thank you for your ongoing readership and support. Unfortunately, I have to announce that for personal and professional reasons, a TweakGuides Tweaking Companion for Windows 10 is not going to be released at any point. However, I will try to compile a brief Windows 10 guide soon, and of course the daily news updates will continue as always. I hope you're enjoying a good break, and all the best for 2016!
Firefox 43.0.3

Mozilla has released Version 43.0.3 of the Firefox browser. This version fixes a network issue when using Nvidia's Network Access Manager, and improves the decoding of some videos on YouTube.
Flash Player 20.0

Adobe has released Version 20.0.0.267 of the Flash Player plugin for browsers. To download the full offline installer, use these links depending upon your browser: Internet Explorer or Firefox or Opera. Use Windows Update to update the built-in Flash Player in IE11 under Windows 8 and 10, and Edge under Windows 10. Update to the latest version of Chrome to update its built-in Flash Player.
Steam Issues

There have been many reports that due to a major glitch in Steam, users have been able to view other people's account details, including addresses and payment information. Valve has not issued an official statement yet. Community-run site SteamDB summarizes the situation and speculates on the cause of this issue here.
Update: Valve has issued a statement confirming that this was caused by a caching issue, and that everything is back to normal now.
Update 2: Valve has now provided a more detailed explanation of what happened.

Mozilla has released Version 43.0.2 of the Firefox browser. The official changelog is currently unavailable.

Nvidia GeForce 361.43 WHQL

Nvidia has released the 361.43 WHQL certified graphics driver. This driver is for GeForce 400 and higher graphics cards under Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10. It adds support for GameWorks VR 1.1, including VR SLI support for OpenGL applications and support for the latest Oculus SDK. It also contains updated SLI profiles and bug fixes. The driver package contains PhysX version 9.15.0428 and updates GeForce Experience to version 2.8.1.
CCleaner 5.13

A new Version 5.13.5460 of the free CCleaner system cleaning utility has been released. Changes include improved Opera and Chrome cleaning, improved Windows 10 registry cleaning, as well as minor improvements and bug fixes.
Windows Live Mail 2012

Microsoft has issued a revised update for Windows Live Mail 2012, after the original update caused problems. Note that the revised update may cause mail sync issues, but this is a server-side issue which Microsoft is investigating. This update is only required if you use a Microsoft email account (@outlook, @hotmail, @live, @msn) in Windows Live Mail.

Mozilla has released Version 43.0.1 of the Firefox browser. The official changelog is currently empty, but it appears this release simply deals with the deprecation of SHA1 Authenticode signatures for Windows.

AMD has released the Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 WHQL certified driver for the HD 7700, HD 8500 series and above on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. This driver provides additional bugs fixes and WHQL certification.

Firefox 43.0

Mozilla has released Version 43.0 of the Firefox browser. The most significant changes in this update include the ability to enable search suggestions in the Address Bar, the requirement that all add-ons be signed, and the option of selecting a second, more aggressive, block list for the Tracking Protection feature. The 64-bit Version of Firefox 43.0 is now also available on the main Firefox download page, under the Windows 64-bit column.

Windows Live Mail 2012

Paul Thurrott reports that because Microsoft is changing the way it provides its mail services for @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live, and @msn email accounts, any such mail accounts will soon stop working in Windows Live Mail 2012 unless you install this update. However, user feedback indicates that installing this update may cause Windows Live Mail to crash. So you might want to wait for MS to rectify the bugs in this update before installing it.

Apple has released a new Version 12.3.2 of the iTunes software. This update allows users to see works, composers and performers when browsing classical music in Apple Music, as well as providing stability and performance improvements.

Microsoft has released an Update for Windows 10 that rectifies problems with certain privacy-related settings being retained when upgrading to Version 1511 (Build 10586). It appears to be the same as another recently released update, and many people are reporting that it fails to install properly. You can either wait for Microsoft to reissue it, or manually force installation by opening an Administrator command prompt and typing: dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\c4a1b8896ce9fbfea96c1ee6890d52a5\windows10.0-kb3122947-x64.cab.

Nvidia has released the 359.12 Hotfix graphics driver. This driver is for the GeForce GTX 860M series under Windows 7, 8 and 10. It fixes game crashes on certain GTX 860M notebooks.

Nvidia has released the 359.06 WHQL certified graphics driver. This driver is for GeForce 400 and higher graphics cards under Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 10. This is the recommended driver for Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six Siege. It also provides a new SLI profile for Fallout 4. The driver package contains PhysX version 9.15.0428 and GeForce Experience version 2.7.4.
