ATI Catalyst 10.2 Hotfix

ATI has released a Catalyst 10.2 Hotfix graphics driver. This hotfix driver is for the HD4700, HD4800 and HD5000 series under Windows Vista and 7. It resolves freezes in DX11 mode in the game Aliens vs. Predator, as well as resolving an issue where the mouse cursor becomes enlarged at random in Windows 7.

Microsoft has released a new Version 1.0.1959.0 of its free Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) anti-malware package for Windows XP, Vista and 7. To update an existing installation of MSE to this latest version, either download the file above and run it; open MSE, click the small arrow next to the Help button on the main screen and select the Upgrade option; or wait to be prompted by MSE or Windows Update for the upgrade.
ATI Catalyst 10.2

ATI has released the Catalyst 10.2 graphics drivers for the HD2000 series and newer. This version introduces CrossFireX improvements, including application profiles, Eyefinity, PowerPlay and DisplayPort audio support. There are also performance improvements for the HD5000 series in Dirt 2, Battleforge, Unigine Heaven and Chronicles of Riddick, and a range of fixes.

Windows Security Update Issue

Microsoft has confirmed that a recent security update (KB977165) may be causing restart issues for some Windows XP users. This update is no longer being issued through Windows Update, and Microsoft is investigating the root cause of these problems. If you believe you are experiencing problems due to this patch, a solution is offered here.
Windows 7 Activation Update

Microsoft has announced that it will be releasing an update for Windows 7 which addresses a range of activation exploits, particularly due to the risk of malware which accompanies pirated products. The update is voluntary and will be available for download beginning February 16, and on Windows Update later in the month.

Aliens vs. Predator Demo

A demo has been released for the highly anticipated Aliens vs. Predator game. At the moment the demo only appears to be available via Steam. Once I've installed it I will create an HD gameplay video for those who don't wish to download the 1.2GB demo. The full retail version of the game is due out on 16 February in the US, and 19 February in Europe.
Update: I've uploaded an HD YouTube Video which demonstrates some basic gameplay from all three races at maximum settings.
