AMD has released the Catalyst 11.5b Hotfix graphics driver for Windows XP and 7. This driver has specific optimizations and fixes for Brink and Dirt 3, resolves transcoding video lagging issues when converting multiple H.264 clips to MPEG2 Blu-ray video, fixes a mouse cursor lag issue, fixes intermittent flickering issues in several games when using an HD 6000 series graphics card in DirectX 9 mode, adds support for additional Stereo 3D-capable displays, and adds CrossFire support for Brink and The Witcher 2.

The Witcher 2

The Witcher 2 is a newly-released RPG generating a lot of excitement because it's one of the few major titles to be PC-exclusive upon release. I can vouch for the fact that it has excellent graphics and depth of gameplay, and isn't watered down for console compatibility. To give those of you wondering what all the fuss is about a taste, I've prepared an HD YouTube Video of some gameplay at maximum possible settings, minus the Ubersampling (Supersampling) setting which no current single GPU can run smoothly. Nvidia has asked me to write a tweak guide for The Witcher 2, and it should hopefully be up on GeForce.com in the near future. One indispensible tip for those of you who, like me, prefer inverted mouse control: go to the \My Documents\Witcher 2\Config directory, open User.ini with a text editor like Notepad, and add a minus sign in front of the numerical value for the MouseSensitivityY variable (e.g. MouseSensitivityY=-0.163462).

Nvidia has released the Beta 275.27 driver for Windows XP, Vista and 7. This driver is for GeForce 6 and higher desktop cards. It adds support for the new GeForce GTX 560, and improves performance on the GTX 400 and 500 series in several games. The driver also adds automatic SLI, multi-GPU and AA profile updates via the Nvidia Update feature, improves Desktop Scaling functionality and provides a new user interface for scaling features, and has 3D Vision improvements. The driver package also contains the 9.10.0514 PhysX drivers.
