iTunes 11.0

Apple has released a new Version 11.0.0.163 of the iTunes software. This major update redesigns the interface and store, has a new Miniplayer, improves search and playback syncing, and allows playing purchased content directly from iCloud. It also has security and bug fixes.

Far Cry 3 has just been released in some parts of the world. A cross between Far Cry 1 and 2, and somewhat reminiscent of Crysis, it's a great looking game. For those who want to take a closer look at the graphics and gameplay, I've prepared a YouTube Video at maximum settings in DirectX 11 mode, minus any Antialiasing.

Nvidia GeForce Beta 310.64

Nvidia has released the Beta 310.64 graphics driver. This driver is for GeForce 8 and higher desktop cards under Windows Vista, 7 and 8. It is specifically designed to significantly improve performance in Far Cry 3, as well as updating the SLI profiles for Far Cry 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The driver package also contains the 9.12.1031 PhysX drivers.

An update on where current guides stand. The COD: Black Ops 2 guide I did for Nvidia was handed over and finalized over a week ago, but is still caught up in their internal approval process. The next game guide I am scheduled to do is for Far Cry 3, starting shortly. I've just finished the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion for Windows 8; all that is left is some formatting work for the different editions. I should be able to release it within the next few days, so stay tuned.

A new Version 3.25.1872 of the free CCleaner system cleaning utility has been released. The changes in this version include Chrome extension management, improved compatibility with Windows 8, added cleaning for Dreamweaver, PaintShop Pro X5 and Anonymizer, along with other minor improvements and bug fixes.

Mozilla has released Version 17.0 of the Firefox browser. The most significant changes are larger icons in the Awesome Bar, a new Social API, a click-to-play blocklist to prevent outdated plugins from loading, performance improvements and bug fixes. Nvidia has released the Beta 310.61 graphics driver. This driver is for GeForce 8 and higher desktop cards under Windows Vista, 7 and 8. It is the same as the recently released 310.54 beta, but adds improved compatibility for Hitman: Absolution and Planetside 2, and provides a new Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 SLI profile. The driver package also contains the 9.12.1031 PhysX drivers.

Nvidia has released the Beta 310.54 graphics driver. This driver is for GeForce 8 and higher desktop cards under Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. It is the recommended driver for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed III, and provides performance boosts in these and other games. The driver automates negative LOD adjustment for SSAA, and contains updated SLI, 3D Vision and Ambient Occlusion profiles, as well as bug fixes. The driver package also contains the 9.12.1031 PhysX drivers.
